Mr Ong Seng EngDirector, Resource Conservation Department, National Environmental AgencySustainable Singapore Blueprint – Boosting Resource EfficiencyA key thrust of the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint is to boost resource efficiency. Improving energy efficiency and reducing waste are key to boosting resource efficiency and targets have been set in the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint for both areas. The presentation focuses on the measures and programmes being implemented to improve energy efficiency and reduce waste in Singapore. Energy efficiency measures include the mandatory energy labeling scheme for air-conditioners, refrigerators and clothes dryers, minimum energy performance standards, 10% Energy Challenge to educate the public on energy conservation, mandatory fuel economy labeling for passenger cars and light goods vehicles, Singapore Certified Energy Manager programme and the Energy Efficiency National Partnership that targets industries, especially the larger energy consuming industries. Waste reduction measures include the Singapore Packaging Agreement and the National Recycling Programme as well as incentive to encourage then 3Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle.About the speaker…
